MMMGRAMMY GRAB
Hanson manager and 1992 University of Georgia law school graduate
Christopher Sabec was still in the outer stratosphere when he
rang us last week to chat
about Hanson's three Grammy nominations. "I got to call the
guys and break the
news," said Sabec, who was awakened at 5 a.m. in Los Angeles
by the suits at
Mercury Records in Manhattan. "We're all completely thrilled
and stunned. We
had resigned ourselves to thinking, 'We're new, we're young and
this is just
our first crack at things. We'll just wait until next year.'
" Sabec says
brothers Isaac, Taylor, and Zac (who all got dirt bikes for
Christmas,
incidentally) have also accepted an invitation to sing on the
live Feb.25
telecast. And how did the boys react to the Grammy snub that
their pals Spice
Girls received? "We've really felt an alignment with
them," says Sabec. "They
set a high mark for us to follow. They did a lot of hard work,
and we were
shocked that they were completely shut out." And promises
Sabec: "As soon as
it can be worked out, we're coming back to Atlanta this year for
a full-length
show. We love it there."
