.....................people with taste!

Celebrities who have "come out of the closet" (well, not THAT way) to say that they are Hanson fans...now, we think that this shows that they are secure with themselves because it seems like bashing Hanson is something "cool" to do...NOT...but anyway...we've gathered these from various places...

Here is a partial list of people who have gone on record as Hanson fans...

U2
Aerosmith
Ted Danson
Toad the Wet Sprocket
Jenny McCarthy
Tyra Banks
Kobe Bryant
Dennis Rodman
Vanessa Williams
Savage Garden
Cindy Crawford (even makes an appearance in TT&MoN)
Trent Reznor

Perhaps the last one is the most impressive. He is the man behind Nine Inch Nails and was voted by SPIN as THE most influential figure in where music is headed. He called MON, a brilliant piece of work that even made him, king of depression, smile with enjoyment. It should be noted that almost everyone who bashes Hanson is a teenage male or a disc jockey. Hanson is WELL respected in the media and industry. I mean, even SPIN and RS, which are rather hard nosed publications, raved about Hanson and MON...The Christmas album is receiving similar praise. These are REAL kids playing, writing and singing REAL music...I would challenge any basher to come to a Hanson concert and watch...they would leave in stunned silence...At the B96 Bash in Chicago, they encountered numerous technical problems but the Chicago Tribune headline still said, "HANSON Steals Spotlight in 5 Hour Show." ~Ashley Greyson (Associate Producer of TT&MON)

*Denis Leary, albeit not a Hanson fan, has problems of his own...

Denis Leary was on Muchmusic yesterday, and he enjoyed cutting up Hanson. He said that Taylor looks like a chick, that Ike is the ugly one who's gonna go bald and that Zac's gonna be found in a hotel room with a hooker and an 8-ball of crack and that will effectively be the end of Hanson. His 7-year old son is a big Hanson fan, though, much to Denis' chagrin. Denis also went on saying that Zac's 5 and that he shouldn't be in a band...

*Avalon Boston concert interview

Fiona Apple, Meredith Brooks, and Chumbawamba had already sang. Here what they had to say about Hanson:

Radio DJ: Hey! we're broadcasting live at the Avalon in Boston, here with me, we have Meredith Brooks...
Meredith: Hey
Radio DJ: and Fiona Apple
Fiona: Um, hi (laughs)
Radio DJ: How are you enjoying the backstage here?
Meredith: (jokingly) It really sucks, I have to practically beg to get an interview! (laughs) No, seriously, it's great.
Fiona: Yeah
Radio DJ: Now, Fiona, how's the music business now? Being so young, I heard you used to complain about it, is it any better?
Fiona: Uh, yeah, it is. it's funny, I used to complain a lot, but see, I've learned to deal with it and I've been hanging around Hanson a lot lately. They're really cool with everything and the fans and they gave me advice and they're really jolly all the time, so I don't really complain anymore.
Meredith: Yeah, I first met Hanson over in Japan and they gave me some great advice about the fans and they seem real down to earth. They're great.

*Rosie O'Donnell interview with Alex D. Linz...

Rosie O'Donnell was interviewing the little boy from Home Alone 3 and he was going on and on about all the things he wanted to be when he grows up and one was a drummer and singer. Rosie asked him if he wanted to be like Zac from Hanson and he got all excited and said yeah. He said he liked Hanson and that his favorite song is MMMBop. It was so cute! She asked him to sing part of it but he wouldn't so she tried and was not successful at all. It was pretty funny. :-)

*John King's thoughts...

In Smash Hits, a funny quote about Hanson. It said producer John King (on half of the Dust Brothers-produced Thinking of You and MMMBop) kept mistaking Taylor for a girl during the recording sessions for MON. King said that he kept walking into the room where they were recording and thinking that a really attractive girl was there. Then he would realize it was Taylor. He said it happened about six times. He went on to say that since Taylor's voice has changed there's no mistaking that he's a real man.

*Interview after Jingle Ball...

"Hanson makes some great music so we're happy to share the bill with them." ~Tom Hamilton of Aerosmith on Showbiz Today

*David Duchovny on his favorite song of 1997...

"I'll tell you what song I like, but I'm embarassed. I'm only going to tell you because...I like the Hanson song...I liked MMMBop."

Stephan Jenkins (who is most delicious!) on Hanson:

IN this months Launch CD ROM magazine. The lead singer of 3rd Eye Blind says: "I hate when people say Hanson sucks...Hanson does not suck. They proved to everyone at the Grammy's that they can rock...face it people, bow down to Hanson they rock and will be around way longer than most..."

"I loved Hanson. I loved MMMBop. I love it. How could you deny that? It just sounded great! And that kid can really sing!" ~Shawn Colvin at a post grammy party on Hanson

"I was very impressed with Hanson's performance. I thought that little drummer was a kick-ass drummer, and that they sang great. I mean I didn't know, their just little boys you know? I was very impressed. I think they they'll probably be around in 20 years writing good songs and being in a great band." ~Stevie Nicks from Fleetwood Mac at the Grammy's

Dave Navarro from Rage Against the Machine was asked "If Godzilla was made into a sequel, who would you want him to fight?" Dave says "Hanson, because they have SO much rock power. I mean, their rock power is huge, and they'd kick Godzilla's ass!"

The following comment about Hanson was made by Eddie Vedder while he was being interviewed by Janeane Garofalo for CMJ New Music:

JG: I thought that Jamiroquai encouraging Hanson was a really good thing. You know how people like to make fun of Hanson, which I think is a horrible thing because they're children, and I would never take a shot at a child. And Jamiroquai came out and said, in their defense, "Why would you take pleasure in making fun of them? And also, they're children that clearly love making music. They make their own music and do their own thing. What is it that offends you so much about their presence in your business or in your life that you would tear them down?"

EV: I don't really know. I don't have those feelings so I don't know why they would either. I have the same question. You'd need to ask them. But I felt the same way with Hanson. They're f*cking kids. I just wonder if they're going to peak way too early. And just the level of exposure. I didn't do that. I made the conscious decision not to be that band that's everywhere, that has its faces everywhere. I don't want to see anybody like that. I don't want to see anybody with that kind of repetition. I think maybe that's one of the reasons that people get sick of them. I mean, historically in music, it's been that way a lot. You look at the people with one or two songs all throughout the '50s and you see that. It's not a lot of bands lasting forever from that time. You know, very few.

'Mmmbop...ba du be dop ba du bop'...I love that tune, it's just so catchy and real easy for me to sing to!" - Nick Carter

Q: Is there any competition between you and Hanson, since you are the two most popular groups with the teen audience right now?

"We bet this question would come up--OH, YOU GUUUUUUUYYYS!! (Laughs) We have a completely different sound and look and image and whatever have you, and we do not feel like rivals at all. CASE CLOSED. We do really think that Ike, Zac, and Taylor are talented though--they are really what you call "boy wonders." We are really happy for them--they have been working hard for like five years or more to get where they are--they are not the overnight sensation everyone thinks they are." - Nick Carter

H.O.R.D.E. FANS = HANSON FANS?

August 11, 1998 VA Beach, VA

Blues Traveler invite very special guests Hanson to the 7th annual H.O.R.D.E. Festival. Not only do the Hanson brothers come as fans of Blues Traveler, but they joined them on stage to perform their smash "MMMBop", Blues Traveler style. It was only with a brief practice in the
Blues Traveler dressing room, that Popper was able to tune his harm in the key of "MMMBop." A first for H.O.R.D.E. fans, Hanson was well received by the tie dye fans, as they warmed up for their show the following evening. "It was fun meeting them and they showed real class and great courage coming out on someone else's stage and playing their hearts out," said John Popper. "They played a lot better than we did when we were their age. It was F*CKIN' COOL"

The guys from Matchbox 20:

"Question:Is there any famous person you'd like to meet?

Kyle: That kid...

Brian: Hanson! We're all about hanson.

Kyle: The drummer kid- Zac. I really want to meet him!"

Steve (Jars of Clay)

Have you ever met Hanson?

"No, but someone we know was talking to them and the older one, Isaac, said that he listens to us all the time and loves us, which really surprised us!"

Billy Joel (!!!!!!!!!)

In an Oklahoma interview he was asked about Hanson and said, "They're pretty cool. I'm partial to Zac because we act the same. But they will be around for a while." He also sang a little of MMMBop.
