Halloween Stew
by
Mary-Ellen Grisham
Ghosts and goblins, witches too
Dance around the cauldron's brew:
Eye of newt, scale of toad
Tire track skid from off the road
Slugs n' snails and witches wart
Hair of beast, the werewolf sort
Skin of snake and spider web
Bat wing and a shrunken head--
What a globby, gooey mess
If it splashes on the grass
As the spirits whish and howl
And the ghosts begin to prowl
Down the country hill and lane
With the night wind's slow refrain--
Moon's aglow, the dancing's done
Another Eve the magic's won.
