Memories

by

Dana Ledden

My life, well seasoned with grief,
permitting the world to view my life as an open book.
Shattered and torn lay my dreams…my existence, a mere fantasy
My heart can no longer bear the grief as my tears fall as rain for all
that I have been forced to endure.
Anger towering above the peak of the highest mountain,
and falling to the depth of the deepest sea
Beneath this place, lay the memories I'm terrified to face,
wounds from another time and place.
My mind in constant turmoil,
waiting to be released,
longing for a life filled with peace.
Like a ghost bound by chains,
my being screams for a release from the fury that afflicts my spirit,
and the pain that pierces my soul.
Now,
I just want to be free of these memories that are killing me…
