The light of Jesus shining From the eyes of little ones Tells me it's the season Time to sing the name of Jesus So that everyone can hear Our children need reminding Of the reason for the season The reason is the Baby Born in Bethlehem that day And the Virgin in the manger Giving birth out in the cold We need to tell our children This story that's so old About a Virgin mother And a carpenter by trade About their trip upon an ass And the changes that they made About the Baby Jesus Born as humble as they come About the three wise kings Who said He is The One The One we'll sing our praises to The One who'll save mankind The Son that God has sent to Earth To show us we've been blind The Light of Jesus shining From the eyes of little ones Tells me it's the season Time to sing the name of Jesus So that everyone can hear Like Jack, I have had enough of the crass commercialism that is Christmas. I wrote this poem years ago, but this is the first time I've sent it out into the world. Alice
