Depths Of Despair

by

Alice Bateman

Hot tears streaming down my face
Falling on my hands
Hot tears falling from my eyes
I just don’t understand

The depths of despair overtake me
And I cannot fight them off
I just sit here crying and crying
While all around me scoff

‘What does it matter if he can’t be here
You’ll go to join him soon’
Not knowing that my heart was set
I believed the Silver Moon

Now the future is unknown again
What if they turn me down
For entry to his country
Then in my tears I’d drown

I’m trying to convince myself
That things will be allright
But I am swallowed by despair
It feels like darkest night

How could our God give us this Love
And then not let it be
Why can’t we be together
He is half of me
