"Angelfear"

Angels, with coal-black wings
crowns of bleeding light
enter through my window
every night
All have tender faces, colder than a burn
all look on with shining eyes
waiting for me to turn
All are tinged with darkness, smiling smiles that lie
whisper to me gently
You'll love us till you die
I hide my skin from angels
I fear their moist embrace
I run away from angels
to an ungodly space
I'd rather be with demons
with their demonic sins
No religion fails to tell you
that sometimes, they can win
I run away from angels
in love with a demon's child
I'll gladly steal their halos
for his lizzard-smile
He's black and blue, my demon
and velvet as the night
I'll rather take my demon
than an angel's flight
I learned to know that angels
though beautiful like dreams
are like fleeting echoes:
never what they seem.
