This area is not intended to be a comprehensive tech manual, rather a starting point for new Mac users, or those who have been a bit apprehensive about opening the system folder.
  One thing i've found while helping friends new to the Mac is that when inspecting their system, it tends to look like amazingly like mine does after a clean install. The look of sheer terror on their faces when I start dragging half the icons to the trash is a Kodak moment everytime. Their fears subside when I go through what each icon represents and they realise they don't need them afterall.

Here i'll try and give a rundown of what some of the System Folder contents are so you can decide to keep or not to keep.
