V. Dragoi Dear colleague We have a post-doc position already available in the magnetism group of the "Laboratoire de Physique des Matériaux" at Nancy University. If you know some interrested person please contact me. The "Laboratoire de Physique des matériaux" of Nancy University (France)has recently started an important research program on spin electronics. The overall thrust of our project is to develop a new variety of magneto-electronic three terminal devices based on Magnetic Tunnel Junctions (MTJ). This program is part of a european project starting on 01-01-2000 on MRAM including several european universities and industries. The magnetoresistive properties of the MTJ have been demonstrated recently to be very sensitive to the hybridation between the ferromagnetic material and the insulator used as tunnel barrier. We will study several oxide layer material in order to increase the selectivity between s and d electrons and consequently the magnetoresistance. The fabrication of the Three terminal devices is based on a double tunnel junction with a thin base layer. The transport properties of the hot electrons will play an important role in the performance of the devices. We will study these ballistic electrons and more precisely their spin dependent properties. The success of this project is also based on our facilities in the growth (sputtering, MBE...),in characterisation (structural, magnetic and transport...), and in lithography. The three aspect are currently available in our laboratory.
