PowerBASIC Compressed Archive Explorer

PBCAE is a powerfull library that allows PowerBASIC programs to identify compressed files and gather relevant information from them. PBCAE is released in source code (except HAP routines due author reasons) and in freeware mode for non-comercial applications. If your application is commercial, the registration fee is not obligatory, but 'recomended' ;-)

Means 'I don't known. I haven't found a file to test it, the compressor isn't able to generate it'

* = Means version dependent. Not fully tested.
+ = Means the compressor can't handle that files.

PBCAE has the ability to identify compressors, check -AV sign, determine compression ratio, perform a soft integrity check, count the files compressed, check for a password protected file(s), and detect if ARC is part of a multivolume block, basically, but in combination with other tables you can determine the expander version needed or the real extesion of a file.

AFI Image In fact PBCAE is the real motor of a compressed files inspector very useful in BAT files or any unattended system. Click on the graphic to get your full operative copy of AFI ARC File Inspector

You can use PBCAE following this table:

    1) PBCAE has no registration fee for freeware utilities, I only hope
that you send to me a copy of your program. Please, show PBCAE logo
and the author's name in any part of the documentation or in credits'
       screen.

    2) PBCAE is so cheap for ShareWare applications, you only need to
send to me a registered copy of your program, and if you desire
a little contribution in money format :-) Please, note in any part
of the documentation or credits screen PBCAE and the author.

    3) PBCAE is so cheap for commercial applications, you must send me a
registered copy of your program, a little contibution will be
appreciated (after this you don't need to send me money any more),
and of course you must display on the screen or on the documentation
       something like this:

'Using PBCAE 0.98 compressed archives explore routines
        (c) 1995,96 Jose Mejuto <[email protected]>.'
