The Lighthouse

After midnight                                                                    Nach Mitternacht

There´s is a drizzle in the air                                                ist ein Sprühregen in der Luft   

And the streets are all but clear                                            und die Straßen sind nebelig  

Listning to my shoes                                                            ich höre auf meine Schuhe

Keep rhythm in the night                                                     die einen Rhythmus in die Nacht bringen

On the corner you appear                                                     an der Ecke erscheinst Du

 

Yes I am aware of what you sell                                           ja, ich weiß, was Du verkaufst

But that´s alright by me                                                      aber es ist okay für mich

My hearts been aching and I would gladly pay                     Mein Herz schmerzte und ich würde gerne bezahlen

For comfort and serenity                                                      für Trost und Gelassenheit

 

And it may be wrong but looking through the eyes                und vielleicht ist es falsch, aber durch die Augen

Of a man who´s knows more lows than highs                       eines Mannes, der mehr Tiefen als Höhen kannte

I´ll take whatever love you have to sell                                Werde ich all die Liebe nehmen, die Du zu verkaufen hast

It sure beats loneliness                                                        es wird sicher einsam

God I hate it there                                                              Gott, ich hasse das

 

In a place where the ocean seldom rests                                An einem Ort, wo der Ozean selten stillsteht

There´s a lighthouse near a cove                                           ist ein Leuchtturm nah bei einer Bucht

And it was thought to be a warning to all those                   und er war gedacht als Warnung für all jene

Who dared to sail to close                                                    die zu nah heransegeln wollten

But I have come to understand it differently                        aber ich verstehe es jetzt anders

To see the lighthouse as a friend                                           ich sehe den Leuchtturm als einen Freund      

Who understands when you have journeyed all you can         der versteht wenn Du alle Reisen gemacht hast die Du machen konntest

And reaches out to you instead                                            und trotzdem nach Dir ruft

 

And the light like god extends across the sea                        und ein Licht wie von Gott strahlt über die See

Searching out lost souls like me                                           auf der Suche nach verlorenen Seelen wie mir

And when the winds of change begin to blow                      und wenn der Wind der Veränderung anfängt zu wehen

I´ll whisper you´re my lighthouse                                        werde ich flüstern, dass Du mein Leuchtturm bist
