Races

Human

The youngest race to come to these lands, the humans have created a few crude settlements where their medieval-level technology has been able to sustain them, although there have been rumors of humans living with some of the other races, but most do not agree. Most humans are descendants of humans who found their way into the portal by accident, and were unable to return, and so had to live out their lives in this magical realm. Even though some modern-day humans have ventured though the portal, none of their technological-plans have been able to work, as they had too-distant of a view on technology, being used to being able to buy materials, where here there were none.

Aeet (Elves)

The most human-like race, in appearance and culture, the Aeet(ah-yet) have been able to raise incredible castles of stone, where the humans could only make wooden fortresses. They are essentially human in size and shape, although generally they are slightly slimmer, of course with the addition of their long, pointed ears that reach above the tops of their heads. Aeet men are less able to grow beards than humans, the most they are able to cultivate being a thick fuzz on their jaw and upper lip.

The Aeet are a more peaceful race, only fighting when their own lives are at stake. Warriors and Guardians are turned away from their castle gates. They also shun workers, merchants, farmers, because they have no need for their services, they produce most food and clothing by magic.

Moiran (Merpeople)

The only race to live solely in the ocean's depths, the Moiran(moy-ran) are what humans call merpeople. They have human upper torsos, but at the waist, their bodies continue into a finned tail. Some's tails resemble sharks, while others, dolphins or whales. There are even those with the tails or bodies of manta rays, or octopi.

The Moiran have no need of guardians, their homes and cities are protected by many fierce ocean creatures. They fear psychics and mages, whos powers they might never have, as they lost those arts long ago. Theives are chased out of the Moiran's domain, because of the fear they ispire in many.

Etana (Centaurs)

Etana(E-ta-nah) are the fastest land-based race, being human in the upper body, but having the body of a horse below the waist. They are a much stronger race than humans on average, the men having the lower bodies of draft horses, while the women possess the slim, but powerful, forms of thouroughbreds.

They have no need of guardians, as they are nomadic. Psychics are virtually unknown to them, while mages they know about, but do not trust. They force out or kill thieves every chance they get.

D'ayeko (Dragons)

The original sole rulers of this land, the D'ayeko(deh-aye-ak-o) are massive creatures, being over 40 feet from snout to tail, with massive wings that reach 30 feet in either direction. Most are scaled, although there are some that have skin like a dolphins, or feathers like an eagle's.

They are the largest, most powerful race in all the land, and yet, they are extremely hard to find, some saying they live in the mountains, while other saying they live in massive palaces floating in the sky.

It is rumoured that a D'ayeko's appearance is based on the profession they take, that is why some have the skins of dolphins or eagles, and that the only profession none are allowed to take is that of Thief, for the appearance of one such as that would be horrendous, armored and insect-like.
