About the Artist
Gary Allan didn't wait to come of age in order to come into his own. He started singing country in the local bars of his native southern California when he was 13 --California and country? Yep.

At 15, Allan was offered a recording contract, but opted to develop his own sound. Throughout his early adulthood, Allan played the California club scene until he was offered another record deal with MCA in 1996. Used Hearts For Sale was released and contained the hit single, "Her Man." Allan moved to Texas and released It Would Be You on Decca Records. The album's title single was a success and took Allen back to his roots.

His music is about generic everyday life experiences interwoven with a few autobiographical scenarios of his own. Allan's tenor voice carries emotion and enthusiasm and a reverence for the usual that he manages to translate with unusual style.

Smoke Rings In The Dark was released in 1999 and was followed by a nationwide tour in November.
