| About the Artist |
| As the younger sibling
of Nick Carter of the Backstreet Boys, Aaron Carter is simply doing what
comes naturally. He's following in his big brother's musical footsteps
with hit recordings that have made him a teen idol around the globe. Aaron was born in 1987, along with a twin sister. He knew early on that he wanted music to be part of his future. At his elementary school in Tampa, Fla., the precocious 7-year-old and three other classmates formed a band called Dead End. The band broke up two years later in 1996, with members taking different creative paths. This left Aaron free to pursue a solo career. After the band's breakup, Carter studied with a vocal coach and recorded his first single, "Crush On You." His lucky break came in 1997 when he was asked to performed "Crush On You" at a Backstreet Boys concert in Germany. The youngster's performance caught the eye of an Edel Records representative who instantly wanted to sign him to Edel's label. "Crush On You," Carter's first European single, was released that same year and soon made Top 10 lists in several countries. A European tour ensued, followed by the release in 1998 of his first full-length album, Aaron Carter. The self-titled album went gold in eight countries. In 1999, he performed on the main stage during Nickelodeon's All That '99 summer tour. His single, "(Have Some) Fun With the Funk," appeared on the "Pokemon" movie soundtrack. Also in 1999, Surfin' USA was released. It was a strong seller in the United States and Japan. He followed with his debut on Jive records, Aaron's Party (Come Get It), in 2000. |
