Woman 86, Dies After Accident at School
An 86-year-old woman who was hurt in a freak accident at Plainville High School this week died Friday.
Helen Goodrich suffered severe head injuries and a broken leg Monday after being knocked down by a student test-driving an experimental vehicle on an asphalt walking track at the school. Goodrich was taken to St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury, where she remined in critical condition until her death.

Helen D. (White) Goodrich, 86 of Plainville, widow of Ray H. Goodrich, died Friday, (December 7, 2001) at St Mary's Hospital in Waterbury. Helen was born in Fairfax, VT and had lived in Plainville for 55 years. Before retiring in 1967, she has worked in the Stanley Works in New Britain for 22 years. She leaves a daughter, Eleanor Anderson of Sebastian, FL; a brother and sister in Vermont, and a sister in New York. Also surviving are four grandchildren, David, Susan and Robert Anderson and Carolyn Moore; and eight great grandchildren. The funeral service will be Wednesday, December 12, at the Rose Hill Funeral Home, 580 Elm Street, Route 160, in Rocky Hill at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Park in Rocky Hill. Calling hours will be one hour prior to the service, 10-11 a.m., Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, P. O. Box 5022, Wallingford, CT 06492.
