| Russell is current filming his next movie, tentively titled The Far Side of the World. The film is based on a series of books by Patrick O'Brian and features a sea faring naval Captain and his crew. Russell will be playing Jack Aubrey the golden-haired captain and Paul Bettany (A Beautiful Mind) will be his doctor sidekick, Dr. Stephen Maturin. The books have been adapted to the screen by Peter Weir, who will also direct the epic tale. (Witness, The Truman Show, Dead Poets Society.) Other actors involved in the film are: Billy Boyd, Ian Mercer, John DeSantis and Patrick Gallagher. Filming has already started (June 2002) in Mexico and is set to run into the fall. The film with hopefully be released for the Summer of 2003. It is not sure whether the movie will be the first in a series and only tell the story of the first novel or if it is a comprehensive script which include bits from all or some of the books. |
