The new cd was released in February 2001 and is TOFOG's second full album. For those lucky enough to get a 'specialy edition' copy, the cd came with some wonderful little 'extras.' Which included an interview cd with Russell and a cute little safety pin in the cd cover (to hold up the babies nappy of course!) I personally LOVE this cd, and it has quickly become one of my favorite cds in my collection. The addition of Dave Wilkins and Stewart Kirwan to the band was fantastic! Stew's ominious trumpeting really adds to the whole mood of the cd and who can resist the golden voice of that Tambourine Man?(Not me!) As always Russell's lyrics are amazing and thought provoking and Dean's music is absolutely wonderful. My personal favorites are Sail Those Same Oceans and The Night Davey Hit The Train, but there is not one single song on here I DON'T like! Even if Wendy and Barry Kable were on GASLIGHT, the new renditions of them are great and I think I may like this version of Barry Kable even more! Although it lacks the live version of Russell's story that goes with it... On this cd Russell's voice has gotten stronger and even MORE pleasing to the ear (if that was possible) and I think I have worn it out already from playing it! From Hold You's almost eerie quality (but who can resist that growl?), to Sail Those Same Oceans' classic (but not typical) love song croon, to Judas Cart's old time almost Irish lullaby sound, BLOC has a bit of everything. It has it all and is a fabulous cd. Every song is different and has individual qualities that set them apart from the rest, yet all mold together perfectly and suit the title of the cd. THIS is the music I've been looking for for awhile now, and I'm glad I finally found it. Russell's voice, those insightful lyrics, that trumpet, those awesome tunes, and away of telling a story (that I'm convinced only Russell can do....) make for a great 45 minutes of listening. Only, I have one complaint though...NOT ENOUGH SONGS!! Russell (if you happen to be reading this...) you canNOT tease us with these great tunes but only give us 10 songs (and only 8 new!) Ahhh...but we know you are a busy guy...so you are forgiven. Thanks for this AWESOME cd guys, I love it and I will cherish it always.
""Bastard Life or Clarity, I think it's a choice we all have to make in life. I asked Dean which he would choose once, he said,'Both'."
What's with the name, anyway?

Bastard Life or Clarity can now be purchased at most local record stores in the USA! The band signed a great deal with Artemis Records and not only can you now buy the cd in stores over here, you can request their latest single, Sail Those Same Oceans,on the radio! Get to it Gruntheads!
"Well, Bastard...is obviously referring to Garth...and Life or Clarity is....when...you're not around Garth."
