Remember that schedule I mentioned back in this entry? Yeah. That's why I haven't done any entries lately!
Basically (for those too lazy to click the link), I've been working all night, coming home exhausted, sleeping until noon, working from 1-3 at the liquor store, sleeping all afternoon, then working all night again. That leaves precisely NO TIME AT ALL to do anything I want to do, like update my website.
Luckily, I've quit at Target because of a better offer at the church. Now, you'd think that would open up more time for me, right? Unfortunately, not really. Now, I work all day, then work at the liquor store all evening, then sleep all night. Oh, well. At least I'm back to a more human set of hours.
But I've worked a whopping two days in the church office so far, and it doesn't look to be too bad. Honestly, my biggest fear is making phone calls -- I hate calling people, especially after my experiences at the Red Cross. But here, I'm calling other parishoners, generally about stuff they actually care about, so it's no big deal. Other technical aspects I'm already pretty comfortable with, so at this point it's mainly just getting a feel for what needs to be done and how they go about doing it. I can handle that. :-)
Youth group has been kind of dismal lately, at least in terms of attendance. Two weeks ago, we cancelled SHAC -- only one kid showed up: the DCE's daughter (IOW, she has to be there). This past week, we had four kids at JHAZ and only two at SHAC. This is really worrying, because we're planning our Report Dinner -- it's an event in which the kids thank the congregation for supporting us in our worktrips over the summer. It really is a big deal, but we've only got six kids planning the thing? Oi. This could be bad. Send up a few prayers for us, okay?
Still haven't seen Serenity, and it's darn near driving me crazy. I really want to go see it! However, the plan is for my sister to come visit this weekend, and I'll call my cousin up at Cornell, and we'll all go together on Saturday or something. I'll be inviting other friends, too, so we'll see what kind of a crowd we can get. Plus, I'm thinking about renting disc one of the series and showing the pilot to people before we see the movie so they all know what to expect. We can have a little Firefly party -- heck, I found a nice Australian chardonnay at the liquor store called "Firefly," and a cocktail called a firefly, too: grapefruit juice, vodka, and grenadine. Might be worth a shot, right? I'll have to do another update after we've gone so you all know how it went.
Um... that's really about it. My life has been non-stop, like I said, but it's been pretty boring stuff (well, unless you count rolling a shopping cart filled with over $1,000 worth of rare wines around a liquor store as "fun"), so there's not much to report. I just figured it was about darn time for an update, so here ya go!
Fun link: http://movies.crooksandliars.com/fox_of_donahue_sheehan_050921a.mov. It's a video of Phil Donahue on "The O'Reilly Factor." Phil tears into Bill. Truly a beautiful sight.
