The job situation may be resolved as of this morning. I was offered the job at Target on Wednesday, but I had an interview scheduled for Friendly's this morning. The nice lady I spoke with at Friendly's said she didn't know if there were any positions available for me to take... and I can't stake my livelihood on a "maybe." I called Target to let them know, but had to leave a message. Hopefully the lady calls me back soon so I can get this over with.
See, for all my protestations to the contrary, I'm pretty uneasy about working nights. Frankly, I'm not too thrilled with the idea of stocking shelves, but a job's a job. I have to pay the bills, you know? I was hoping for something better, but nothing better's coming anytime soon, and so I don't feel like I have a lot of choice. Doesn't mean I have to like it.
You'll have to forgive me: I'm in a somewhat foul mood. Why? I just cleaned a really foul fishtank. Yeah, I haven't been keeping up with it, and Gibson has been annoying as all hell about cleaning the damn tank, so I finally did it so she won't complain so much while she's taking care of them.
I guess I just hate it when she's right. It was filthy. :-p
The fishtank wasn't in my title today, I know... but "the bug" is next up: when Stef came up to visit this past weekend, she suggested I check out the show Firefly. So, we went to the video store and found it on DVD, and rented it and watched it. Good Lord, where was I when this show came out? It's so freaking cool -- I just can't believe it! For those who don't know, the only way to describe it is that it's a cross between a sci-fi space adventure show and a western. Sounds weird, but it works really well -- think "ship works on the frontier" and you'll kind of get the idea. Of course, it was a show on Fox, so it only went one season. Jerks. I really don't like Fox. Never a huge fan before, but now... I'm really not happy with them. Oh well... that's why there are shows on DVD. But in a kind of "stick-it-to-Fox-for-being-so-dumb" move, Universal is making a movie based on the show, titled Serenity, the name of the ship in question. Check www.serenitymovie.com for the official site. I'm pretty excited, and plan on going to see it. Not sure who I'll go with, but I'll manage something. ;-)
As for our upcoming worktrip, it's in dire straits. We could use some prayers. One of our kids pulled out last week, bringing our total number of kids down to five. Five kids, three adults. Hardly even seems worth it. But this morning, when my boss called up the van rental place (Ford dealer... *shiver, shiver*) to confirm when we can pick the van up, she found that their rental service had closed. Yeah. They never told us that. So we've been counting on a van from them, only to have them pull it out from under us. I feel bad for my boss. She's scrambling around right now, trying to find another option or work out something. Like I said, we could use some prayers.
The website looks a lot better, I think, but I've had a suggestion to redo it as a frameset. I thought of doing it that way before, but resisted because it's my understanding that a lot of search engines don't like framesets. Well, it's not like too many people would do a search and come across this site anyway, so why not? I've got a good deal of free time on my hands tonight and tomorrow, and need something to do with them, so I'll work on it. Stay tuned, my faithful reader! :-p
