General Rules
1. This is an Excite Virtual Places chat site for adults with a serious interest in Gor.
2. Those entering wearing Gor or Gorean in the name field of their ID will be assumed to be knowledgeable of Gorean ways and will be treated and expected to act accordingly. Others will observe and study to learn more of Gorean ways before interacting.
3. The lands of Sparta will be considered to consist of two zones. Unmarked pages represent the wilds of Gor and are full capture/kill zones. No capture/kill rooms are marked NCZ/NKZ .
4. Kills/captures may only be made by those from a home which allows at least the same level of risk. If your home is NCZ/NKZ, do not think you may come here to cause trouble and then return to the safety of your home and not face the consequences of your actions.
5. Anyone acting in a fashion not consistent with the ways of Gor as written in the Chronicles of Gor by John Norman, taking into consideration their chosen role and location, will be considered an insect and may be ignored by free and slave alike or killed with a single post by a free Man regardless of the markings on the page.
7. Ignorance of these rules is not a valid excuse.

Supplementary Rules
1. Assassins may operate in these lands but no special dispensation is given. They must follow the same rules as everyone else. Futhermore, if they are here to fulfill a contract they must place "MARKED" in the name field of their ID and they must state they are marked in the room before performing any other action.
2. Free women (including visiting ones) will be expected to be attired properly and will wear veils. Unveiled Free women are subject to capture reguardless of the page markings.
3. Panther girls are permitted to enter areas marked areas but they may not initiate capture or combat. Any area within a panther lair will be given the same consideration by free men. Self defense by a free person is always permitted.
4. Any free woman or panther girl dressed or behaving in a slave-like manner in a public place in the presence of free men will be subject to capture regardless of any markings in the room.
5. Any slave not behaving in a slave-like manner will be subject to capture regardless of any markings in the room.
6. There are no unowned slaves in Gor. Observing is permitted but any unowned slave seeking to participate in the activity in a room will be subject to capture regardless of any markings in the room. In any case, protection as an observer will cease after one week without a kolar.

Capture/Combat Rules
1. Aggressors must state their intention and target clearly in their 1st post. Merely touching a weapon/binding while addressing a specific person is considered to be enough to initiate capture/combat. Do not threaten in such a manner unless you are prepared for the consequences.
2. Aggressors may not injure or in any way impede or affect their target until their 3rd post.
3. Targets may respond as they see fit as soon as they realise they are subject to attack.
4. If the target makes no response to the attack within 5 posts of the aggressor's 1st post, the target is assumed to be AFK, lagging or booted and the capture/combat is declared void unless the target accepts defeat. Those deemed to be using this rule to avoid capture/injury will not be recognised as Goreans.
5. The effects of a post may be limited or voided by an adequate response by the other party as long as the first party has not made another post.
6. To flee once capture/combat is in progress 2 posts must be made without intervention by the other party. The 1st to place distance between the combatants and the 2nd to leave the area. Running without posting allows the other party to continue the capture/combat as though the one who flees is still present.
7. Actions should be unambiguous, realistic and take into account the effects of bindings/injuries. Remember, a weapon or binding must appear from somewhere.
8. The use of artificial aids such as no speech bubbles, cut&paste, laggers and booters is forbidden.
9. Save the text as proof of what occured and be prepared to produce it if the result is disputed.
10. The above rules will apply to any free member or slave involved in an incident taking place in a location where rules specifically relating to capture/combat are not posted.

Notes
These rules have been created to help ensure an environment that promotes Gor as described in the works of John Norman exists in Virtual Places by providing a consistent basis for dealings between Goreans.
