“Art In Our Town Exhibition”

Exhibited at: 56 shops along the main street in Tyohu town
Artworks were exhibited by “Young Shop-Owners Group” at 56 local shops in Tyohu town center. People come and go, whether interested or not, something unusual was in their daily life. Artists, designers and students had an opportunity to involve with local society by showing people what on earth “art” is like, especially artworks from Sweden are. It was also a project for the audiences and organizers to find and see the charms and possibility of the town again, by looking into usual shops and ordinary
empty spaces in an unordinary.

On 10th of April, a painting workshop “Haru Sumizumi” was held at the exhibition space Tenpukuji temple. Mandara(曼荼羅)was drawn and painted by disabled people in collaboration with artists using Japanese traditional paintings on a WASHI paper. Mr. Christian Swardh was invited from Sweden by “Japan and Sweden Kusanone (Grass Root) Exchange Association”, he gave a talk about his life with supports of Swedish Society having been suffered by osteogenesis imperfecta. The purpose of the workshop was to welcome Mr. Swardh and for Japanese disabled people to communicate with him through art. Mr. Swardh produced cherry blossoms spread in colours. There was a heart-warming communications among everybody who participated in the workshop despite of the language difference. The exhibition was a charity deed and SJP artists joint the workshop.

SJP Osaka exhibition was not only an exchange of East and West which was Japan an Sweden, it was also a cultural exchange of Tokyo and Osaka.
