1) OUT OF ENVIRONMENT memory errors.

If you are running on NT then you shouldn't have any memory issues. If by
chance you do get an OUT OF ENVIRONMENT error; add the following line to your
CONFIG.SYS adjusting the path to COMMAND.COM to match where it actually is on
your computer.

SHELL=C:\COMMAND.COM /E:1280 /P

If you are running Win98 then the SETICache install program should have either
made the necessary changes to your CONFIG.SYS, or let you know that it couldn't
and what you need to do. If for whatever reason the SHELL line didn't get added
to your CONFIG.SYS file then add the line below to your CONFIG.SYS, making sure
the path to COMMAND.COM is correct.

SHELL=C:\COMMAND.COM /E:1280 /P

2) Making Start Menu adjustments (for both NT and Win98 users)

Unfortunately the setup program I use doesn't let me automatically make some
settings which you will want to make yourself to some of the shortcuts to
SETICache procedures.

For these adjustments go to START | PROGRAMS | SETICACHE

One at a time, right click on the the shortcut select Properties and make the following
changes one at a time.

	Win98: Shortcut: SETICache
Change: set it CLOSE on EXIT

	Win98 & NT:	Shortcut: SETICache
			Change: RUN MINIMIZED

	Win98: Shortcut: SETICache Offline Process
Change: set it CLOSE on EXIT

Win98 & NT:	Shortcut: SETICache Offline Process
			Change: RUN MINIMIZED

For this adjustment go to START | PROGRAMS | SETICACHE | STARTUP

	Win98 & NT:	Shortcut: SETICache
			Change: RUN MINIMIZED

3) Non English-Windows Install

The install program I use only knows the windows startup directory as "STARTUP"
so if you run a non-english version of windows. The install puts a link to
SETICache in the STARTUP folder, so you will need to move this to your actual
STARUP folder, and then delete the STARTUP folder where you just moved the
SETICache link from.

4) Notes for people without a full time Internet connection

The installation automatically puts a link to SETICache into your STARTUP
folder. If you want to process offline and then manually tell SETICache when
to connect and transfer results and get new Work Units, then you need to
delete this link to SETICache, and copy the link to SETICache Offline Process
and put it into the STARTUP folder. Be sure to set it to run MINIMIZED.

5) Closing SETICache in Win98.

It is unfortunate that Win98 doesn't close a dos box with a running program
(or batch file process like SETICache) with any sort of grace at all like
its big brothers WinNT and Win2000 do.

If you are running Win98 of any build or version, you have to manually close
the SETICache Dos Box. Maximize the SETICache/SETI dos box and click on the
X in the upper right hand corner. A message box will appear, you need to
click YES to close it. Don't worry, this will not harm your Work Unit in
process or SETICache. You do need to do this or you won't be able to reboot
Win98.

WinNT and Win2000 close the SETICache/SETI dos box without problem.
