There is a very important meeting Tuesday, May 22, 2007 in Santa Barbara City Hall, City Council Hearing Room, De La Guerra Plaza (upstairs) at 6:00 P.M.
The future of 'traffic calming' in our beautiful, historic streetscapes will be discussed.
This may be one of the last times we, the residents of Santa Barbara, have an opportunity to voice our opinions about how are streets are changed.
City staff has been proposing changes that are proved to make streets less safe for pedestrians and cyclists. Read more about this and find e-mail links to City officials on the web site, www.sbsafestreets.org. (Click under Articles)
Whether or not you support the SB Safe Streets position, please come and join us to tell them what you think about these plans.
See attached letter from Lisa Burns regarding Garden/Islay Street traffic balloon was provided to s.b. safe streets attorney, Mr. Tony Fischer, Esq. for use by sb safe streets in their city-wide appeal of traffic calming devices. If you share the same concerns, you are welcome to submit a similar letter to the City Council under your names. Opposing views can also be submitted to the City Council directly.
