 U.D. ROYALS

 Meet # 1 12/4/99 Haverford College

The team had a strong outing for their first meet of the season.

The freshman and sophomore relay team of Peter Arned, Declan Cullen , Taron Singleton and Sean Slattery came in 8th place in the 4x400m relay with a time of 4:12.2

The 4x200m relay team of Nguyen Ho, Kevin Moran , Sayce Falk and Edmund Douglas also came in 5th place in a time of 1:45.2 . The sprint Medley relay team of John West, Nick Defelice, Tuan Dinh and Keenan Laird place 5th in a time of 2:12.9.

The 4x800m team of Kevin Booth , Chris Slater, Darron Dixon and Bill Kerr also placed 5th with a time of 9:02.6. Chour Koch made it to the finals in the 55m hurdlers and finished 5th in 8.5.

Meet #2 12/11/99 Haverford College

It seemed as 5 was the lucky number last week with a total of four 5th place finishes. This week 4 was the number of the week with fourth place finishes in the 400m by Mike Byrne (54.6); the 4x800m relay team of Mike Bateman, Bill Kerr, Keenan Laird and Evan Newpher-Lockard (8:42.5), and the freshman and sophomore relay team of Chris Slater, Declan Cullen, Sean Slattery and Kevin Booth(9:15.4).

Dave Flick came down hard after the 4th hurdle and severely sprained his ankle. The 4x200m also had a disastrous outing with a DQ, fall and dropped baton all in the same relay. It will have to get better next week.

Other notable performances were turned in by Nick Defelice 10th place in the 60m. dash (7.5); Andrew Sammaciccia 24.7 in the 200m for a 6th place finish;Bryan Grill , a personal indoor best in the mile in a time of 5:07.5 (10th place).

Meet #3 12/18/99 Haverford College

 

Again the sprinter s and middle distance runners stepped it up a notch and placed third in the 4x200m and the 4x400m. Coming of a disastrous 4x200m last week, Onyi Nwadike, Nick Defilice, Andrew Sammaciccia and Evan Newpher-Lockard tied the school record in a time of 1:37.8 for a third place finish.

The 4x400m team would not be out done also placing third in a time of 3:44.6. Mike Byrne, Kevin Booth, Keenan Laird and Mike Bateman ran on that relay.

Other strong performances were turned in by the freshman / sophomore relay team of Singleton, Francis, Spyad and Arned - 10th in 4x200m; Captain Brett Cummings, 5th in the 60m dash in 7.6; 9th in the 200m by Edmund Douglas.

Meet #4 12/30/99 Lehigh University

 

The sprinters are still dominating the meet performances. Onyi Nwadike set a new school record in the 60m dash with a time of 7.4. This was good enough to earn a 4th place medal. Co-Captain Evan Newpher-Lockard followed with a fourth place finish of this own in the 400m.

The 4x200m relay team with three different legs from last week's third place team placed 1st in a time of 1:38.1. Running this week were Chour Koch, Nick Defelice, Mike Byrne and John West.

Other notable performances were turned in by: Kevin Booth -60m hurdles , 9.7 and Bill Kerr -400m split 56.4.

Meet #5 1/8/2000 Haverford College

Chour Koch improved his hurdle performance dropping to a 9.0 for a 4th place finish.

Dante Desantis also came in 4th in the 60m dash with a time of 7.5 which was 1 tenth of a second of the school record.

The 4x200m relay team just keeps on humming. This week again with three new runner turned in a 4th place finish with a time of 1:39.8. Running this week were Nick Defilice, Dan Cappello, Brett Cummings and Edmund Douglas.

The 4x400m relay team made up of Mike Byrne, Andrew Sammaciccia , John West and Evan Newpher-Lockard turned in a seasonal best of 3:40.1 for a 8th place finish. Sayce Falk turned in a seasonal best in the 400m with a time of 57.6 for a 10 place finish. In his first time running the 3000m run, Bryan Grill placed 7th with a time of 10:04.9. The 4x800m relay team of Mike Bateman, Kevin Booth, Chris Slater and bill Kerr placed 8th with a time of 8:40.0.

Meet #6 1/15/2000 West Chester University

Of the twenty six boys who competed, twenty recorded personal or seasonal bests.

The Freshman / Sophomore relay team of Dan Spayd, Abe Francis, Declan Cullen and Colin Wade started off the meet with a 2nd place finish in the Distance Medley.

Andrew Sammaciccia recorded a 5th place finish in his first attempt at a distance over 400m.

The 4x880yd relay of Mike Byrne, Bryan Grill, Chris Slater and Dan Cappello took a 4th place finish, missing 3rd place by .08 of a second.

The 4x440yd relay of Chour Koch, Kevin Booth, Bill Kerr and John West took home the second place finish.

Evan Newpher-Lockard jumped 5'8" for a second place finish and a spot in the Meet of Champions in the high jump.

The highlight of the meet was the 1st place finish by the 4x176yd relay team of Nick Defelice, Dante Desantis, Brett Cummings and Edmund Douglas. Their time of 1:19.1 held of Cardinal O'Hara by less that .1 of a second.

Meet #7A 1/22/2000 West Chester University

 

The team was spit this week with three relays traveling to Princeton for the Princeton relays with the rest of the team competing at West Chester.

The freshman/ sophomore relay team on Taron Singleton, Devel Douglas, Abe Francis, and Dan Spayd placed third in the distance medley.

John West followed with a 5th place finish in the 300yd with a time of 36.1 which was the season's best. The two mile relay team of Bill Kerr, Chris Slater, Keenan Laird and Mike Bateman took home the first place medal and earned a spot in the Meet of Champions. This makes three of the four relays earning a spot in the Meet of Champions. The 4x176 with two new members had a strong top 10 performance with a time of 1:23.2. Running this week were Oni Nwadike, Glenn Davis, Edmund Douglas, Tuan Dinh.

Other strong performances were turned in by Michael Jean-Baptise in the high jump and and the 4x400m relay team of Dante DeSantis, Sean Slattery, Tim Parker and Sayce Falk.

Meet #7B 1/22/ 2000 Princeton University

The Shuttle Hurdle relay team lowered the school record by almost 2 full seconds running a 34.7. Chour Koch, Kevin Booth, Nguyen Ho and Evan Newpher-Lockard ran on this relay. Not to be outdone the 4x200m relay set a new school record in a time of 1:37.5. This was set in spite of Chour pulling a hamstring with almost 30 yards to go and finished limping in. A healthy finish by Chour could have resulted in a sub 1:35 performance. Nick Defilice, Andrew Sammaciccia and Evan Newpher-Lockard competed with Chour in this relay. The 4x400m relay also turned in a season best with a time of 3:37.9.

Evan, Andrew joined up with Kevin Booth and Mike Byrne for this relay. Evan's anchor 400m was clocked in an outstanding 51.3 . Evan also found out earlier in the week that he received a Congressional appointment to the United States Military Academy at West Point - Congratulations Evan.

MEET #8 1/28/2000 Lehigh University

 

Keenan Laird and Brett cummings recorded seasonal bests in the triple and long jumps. Keenan jumped 38'3" while Bret jumped17'11". Michael Jean-Baptiste had his best jump of the season with a leap of 5"6".

 

In the running events we saw the following seasonal bests: Tuan Dinh 7.6 -60m dash; Nguyen Ho 9.8 -60 Hurdles, Sayce Falk 26.2-200m dash; Collin Wade 5:17.4 in the mile, Darron Dixon 2:16.2 ,Joe Drumn 2:18.2 and Tim Parker 2:28.8 in 800m splits.

 

The 4x200m again medaled in a time of 1:38.5. Running on that team was John West, Mike Byrne, Andrew Sammaciccia and Edmund Douglas.

 

Evan Newper-Lockard had an outstanding performance in the 400m with a time of 52.4. This was good enough for a third place medal and is one of the leading times in the county.

Meet#9 2/5/2000 Lehigh University

 

Evan Newper-Lockard placed 5th in the 200m in his season's best time of 24.7. Andrew Sammaciccia also had a good meet dropping his time in the 400m one full second to a 54.2.

The 4x400m took home 4th place medals in a time of 3:41.5. George Caroulis's 54.9 was the fastest split of the team's.

The 4x200m team of Dante Desantis, Nick Defilice ,Tuan Dinh and Edmund Douglas turned in a solid performance with a time of 1:42.1.

Meet #10 NOVICE MEET FEBRUARY 9 2000

 

Tuan Dinh medaled in the 300yd with a time of 37.3. Sayce Fal k turned in a great performance winning the 600yd in a time of 1:24.9. Joe Drumm showed his last lap kick to take a 3rd place in the mile with a time of 5:20.3. Collin Wade finished just out of medal contention in the 2 mile with a time of 11:30.2

MEET #11 2/12/2000 PA. TRACK CLASSIC LEHIGH UNIVERSITY

 

Mike Byrne cleared 10' in the pole vault for a season's best for the team. Kevin Booth looked good in the hurdles with a time of 9.76FAT. Bill Kerr posted the team season's best in the mile with a time of 4:57.33Fat. Evan Newpher-Lockard dropped his 400m time to 52.30. He is right on the mark for breaking the school record by the end of the season .

 

Mike Bateman had a personal best in the 800min a time of 2:09.3 FAT. John West improved his time in the 200m to 24.4 FAT.

 

The 4x200m ran into trouble with one of the runners falling. Their time will come when they put it all together. The record will fall. The 4x800m ran a solid performance with all of the times beginning to drop.

The 4x400m had a good performance edging towards the school record with a time of 3:35.64 FAT.

MEET OF CHAMPIONS 2/19/2000 LEHIGH UNIVERSITY

 

The 4x200m relay opened up the meet with school record of 1:35.02 FAT. This time lowered the record by 2 seconds. This was the third time this season that this record fell. The new record holders are Dante Desantis, Nick Defelice, Andrew Sammaciccia and Evan Newpher-Lockard.

 

Evan Newpher-Lockard ran a 53.2 400m still off the school record.

 

The 4x800m dropped 8 seconds for their best performance of the season with a time of 8:27.12FAT. Running on this relay was Kevin booth, Bill Kerr, Dan Cappello and Mike Bateman.

 

The 4x400m again lowered their time to 3:34.53 edging towards the school record. Running were George Caroulis, Mike Byrne, Andrew Sammaciccia and Evan Newpher-Lockard.

PA. COACHES ASSOCIATION INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS

PENN STATE 2/26/2000

 

Evan Newpher Lockard finally achieved his 4 year long goal by breaking the school record in the 400m. I spite of almost coming to a complete stop to avoid a fallen runner he ran a 51.54 FAT breaking Nate Hoey's record of 52.11 set in 1996. This placed 19 th. This time qualified Evan for the NIKE Invitational to be held in Bloomington Indiana .

 

The 4x200 just missed the record set last week by running a 1:35.22. Running on that team was Nick Defelice, Mike Byrne, John West and Evan Newpher Lockard. This performance placed 17.

 

The 4x800m team of Kevin Booth, Bill Kerr, Dan Cappello and Chris Slater finished 21st in a time of 8:33.5

 

The 4x400m team had a outstanding performance as they broke the school record and qualified for the NIKE invitational . The team of George Caroulis, Mike Byrne, John West and Evan Newpher-Lockard ran a 3:30.63 which placed 8th.

Nike Classic National Inviational , Indianappolis, In.

Evan Newpher-Lockard competed in the 400m at the classic.After coming of a week of illnes his time was not up to par. The 4x400m relay team of George Caroulis, Mike Byrne, John West and Andrew Sammaciccia turned in a 10 place finish in a time of 3:33.65.
