On September 3, 2002, we left Daytona, Florida and checked into the Whispering Pines RV Park in Rincon, Georgia, where we toured Savannah via the Old Town Tolley the following day.
Johnny Mercer lived in Savannah. He received the 1962 Oscar below for "Days of Wine and Roses.
Forrest Gump was filmed in Savannah;
the bench used in the movie is on display there.

History Lesson
When Sherman captured Savannah, instead of burning the city as he had done Atlanta, he gave Savannah to Abraham Lincoln as a birthday present. Mr. Lincoln chose to spare this beautiful city. Thank you, Mr. Lincoln.
