1/4 CENTURY CLUB

The 1/4 Century Club is a special series of watches made for the Canadian department store Eaton Company for recognition of an employee's 25 years of service.  It comes in different varieties depending on when the watch was given away.  I have been collecting these for more than 10 years but I am still unable to complete my collection.  Please note that for the 1/4 Century, the hourly markings on the dial is replaced by the letters "1/4 C E N T U R Y C L U B" and the maker's name is not Rolex but Eaton.

The Prince

The first model to be given away to the male employees.  They come in two different styles, the Ref 3937 with scroll lugs, and the Ref 971 Prince Brancard with the flared case.  I still have no luck in finding a Prince Brancard.  The markings on the dial are not printed but are enamel.  The back of the watch is fully engraved with the name of the recipient and the term of service.

The Oyster

When the Prince went out of production in the 1950's, it was replaced by the Oyster.  The Oyster was available in both automatic and manual wind.  I have not been able to find out whether there is any special reason for giving out one type or the other.  The markings on the dial is changed to gold applied index.  The back of the watch is still engraved in full.

On its way to me.....

The Ladies

Of course there would be female employees in the company and they too would receive a Eaton Rolex upon 25 years of service.  To the best of my knowledge there is at least three different types of female models but so far I am only able to collect one.  They are all enamel dialed but only have the name of the recipient and the years of service engraved on the back.  There is no room for decorations such as those found in the other models.
