Directions for Changing Startup/Shutdown Screens

To change a logo (startup/shutdown) screen is no big deal, really - even if the file extension is .sys DON'T BE AFRAID! First, you have to click on "My Computer," open the "View" menu and select "View all files" or "View Hidden Files" - whatever your computer says will show you every file on your computer. Then go into your Windows Explorer and click on C:\ - this will show you all the files and folders in your C:\ directory. At this point, you should make a new folder in you C:\ directory and call it "Old Logo Files" or something else you can remember. Then click and drag the file called "logo.sys" into this folder. Then click on "Windows" and find the "logos.sys" and "logow.sys" files and click and drag them into the same folder with your "logo.sys" file. Now you can put your new logo files in. From the WinZip window, you can extract the "logo.sys" file to the C:\ directory. Then extract the "logos.sys" and "logow.sys" files to C:\Windows. That's it! Of course, if you're not interested in saving those original logo files (and you don't have to!) you can just extract the new ones to the appropriate folders and they will overwrite the ones that are already there. Good luck!
