The story behind these cookies may be an urban legend, but I thought it was cute.

A lady and her friends go to A very well known and respected department store for lunch and a bit of shopping. After lunch the waiter brings the bill and cookies for each of the girls. The lady really enjoyed her cookie and as she passed the waiter the bill back wth her credit card she asked him for the recipe. A few minutes later the waiter returned with her receipt and an envelope with the recipe in it. When the lady looked at the receipt she realized that she had been charged over $300 for the recipe, and there was no refund allowed. She tried for months to get her money back but the department store said no.

Her revenge is to "give" the recipe to as many people as possible.

(I have never tried the recipe, but I sure love the story. oh the store has the initials NM)
