A Cowboy On A Quest To Save The World. Isn't That What Cowboys Are For?
Jake travels to Singapore with his Chinese girl friend and finds adventure. She is a Chinese singer, a nightclub entertainer, and her friends are sometimes deadly. The girl and her girl friend mysteriously disappears. An ashram takes Jake under their protection and Jake disturbs and frustrates the plans of a brotherhood (run by a female) bent upon worldwide power and influence. Jake's interference did not stop a plan of the brotherhood. What they set in motion included placing genetically engineered babies in major world capitals for future "business" reasons.
Jake vacations in Greece meeting and falling in love with what he thinks is a Muse. The pose and plan of the Greek beauty successfully separates the man from consensus reality. The Muse manages to transfer Jake, the cowboy tourist, to a different time period and a very different world.
This world is more than a mere challenge. What he finds himself enjoying is not only facinating but a quest worthy of his best endeavors. His heart is easily captured; not by one, but several beautiful girls, and in several different locations both in time and space. His Muse incorporates everything good the Greeks had ever created into her magic for the time traveler. The world of the past comes alive for Jake, and yet seeming at the same time it confronts and confuses him.
The kicker is he believes everything he sees in both his worlds. He is told both the past and the future has chosen him for the job of saving enough of mankind to carry on what the Creator started. Time is of the essence as the 21st Century is beginning and things are happening that bring many to the conclusion the earth is in big trouble. Grand Alignment of planets are lining up for "the finish". The biggest threat is Jupiter. When it falls into place along with four of the largest of earth's planets it will put into motion several events. This gigantic planetary force is sure to trigger a shifting of the earth's tectonic plates. California, Japan, and the British Islands are in deadly danger. El Nino has already changed much of the climatic patterns around the world. The warmth of the water and the warming of the atmosphere is playing havoc with the ecosystem. Green frogs are disappearing as the first warning. The Antarctic Pole is losing a gigantic ice cap diminishing every day at the rate of x-billion tons of ice. At least 90% of the earth's fresh water is tied up at the South Pole and what is worse the axis of the earth already experiences a wobble. In this new century the wobble will be set off by the conjunction of Jupiter etc. and the earth will literally turn many degree's, moving the tropics as well as the frigid zones to different locations. Much of this is being dictated by the weight of the ice cap on Antarctica.
The cowboy is told by the intellectuals of the Atlantean culture what will happen. Jake also learns the secrets of the Mayans, the pyramids and the Sphinx as well as the real history of the, Incas, Izarians, Semites (Akkadians), and the Atlanteans.
One of the best things that happen in the story concerns the cowboy and his transfer to the the island of Atlantis itself. He learns the sociology of Andean societies and learns the location of a stone that holds the secret of stopping an increase in the Chandler Wobble of the earth's axis.
It takes a second book called Additional Gifts From The Gods to tell what happens next. In the second book Jake had survived the destruction of Atlantis escaping by sea only to be shipwrecked on an island with a very peculiar group of people. He pends time learning from these Kaori, master dreamers and learns about their religion of Huna. Their society held the secrets of not only proper child-rearing, but the were original positive thinkers of the transactional analysis school of inventing a psychology of themselves that worked. When he makes it back to Thera (Santorini) Greece, and the present time, only then can he make the contact needed to be once more with Thally. Thally and sister Erato are both in love and competing with each other for Jake, the cowboy. Jake is instructed to tell his time period what is in store and a hint as to how the human occuppied earth can survive the coming cataclysm. However, the world is not interested in what Jake has to say. That is to say until he is contacted by some very unique young people. They are part of a group that were maturing and ready to help in what the cowboy knew he had to do. They were the newly genetically engineered "super-babies" with their powerful "psychological" mind skills who actually now hold the proper response for the impending disaster. The above is just one of the surprises. Some of the others? How the earth's axis gets realigned? What will keep the earth's tectonic plates in more or less their places? What was the purpose of the Great Pyramid? How solving the riddle of the Sphinx could save mankind?
Muses have a way of staying involved. The one Jake loves happens to wear a lot of faces through-out Jake's jaunt through history. This love story has an ending twisted and convoluted until even the cowboy doesn't know who is really who!
