Atlantis...The story has been told in many ways by many people. This is a compilation of many ideas that can be found in the literature.
Atlantis was known by the Egyptian priests. They told about it in stories heard and recorded by Plato. They believed the Atlantean continent was the very heart of a large ancient empire. They devised systems (government) to rule over others including the hyperboreans, Mu/Lemuria and even Libya and Egypt. They had certain knowledge that included the power of nature and even cosmic forces. They even had the means to transport and/or transmit these forces which even at the time were believed strange and "other worldly".
Lemuria was said to be a continent located what is called the Pacific Ocean today. Both Atlantis and Lemuria were thought to be above the ocean's water level over 32,000 years ago. There was a cataclysmic event around 30,000 years ago that sank a portion of Atlantis under the Sagasso Sea. A second event took place 19,000 years ago that caused much destruction to Atlantis. On what has been figured as June 5, 10,498 years ago there was an opposition of sun, Venus, the moon, and earth. It was then that three large islands (parts of the Atlantean Empire) sank. It was at this time that something else happened rather cataclysmic. The Carolina Meteorite crashed to earth. It hit along the Mid-Atlantic Ridge. Study the coastline of the Carolinas and Georgia. They will show crater fields that lead into some of the numerous blue holes found in the Caribbean.
Other names have been attached to Atlantis as part of the myth. Garden of the Hesperides is one, along with the northland of Hyperboreans, the Islands of the Blessed, the Happy Islands, the Isle of Avalon. Whatever the name, the area out in the Atlantic sent out colonizers. Supposedly, they became the races that would be called Egyptian, Olmec, Greek, Inca, and the Red Indian of North America.
It was believed that Atlantis even had a rather rigid class system. Even though made up of some very scientific-minded people, they were also rather enterprising. They began as peace loving and gentle souls, they later split into two very energetic and vociferous camps of thought and practices. The upper class of royalty and aristocrats believed themselves Children of the Law of One. Ideas of the brotherhood of man and the god as father came into being. The lower classes were practitioners of the occult and were known as the Sons of Belial.
The sign ^^^ showing three pyramids was a universally accepted symbol used by the empire known as Atlantis. It was said that the island area that could have been a continent lay pear-shaped with the stem end pointing south. There were less than half a dozen rivers in the north area and one large one flowing south. It was also known that three of the colonies of Atlantis were called Calypso, Meropa, and Tartessos. In the course of later Atlantis history there were canals built to irrigate the lands. They all lead to the capital of Poseidonias. Around the capital itself were concentric canals capable of supporting larger ocean going boats. Some of these canals where the dock areas were located actually were covered with roofs to protect the commerce against the elements.
Kings and the upper classes were wealthy beyond measure. Commerce came from the four corners of the world. Foreign goods were the luxury of the wealthy but more and more trickled down into the hands of what grew to be a middle class.
Minerals were mined on nearby islands and the workers of metal learned new methods of working these minerals some methods learned were lost forever during the events that soon destroyed the Atlantean culture. There was a mineral called oricolcum that was extremely valuable to the Atlanteans. Some say it was a first cousin to aluminum that we have today. It could be found covering colums, building-sides and roofs. It was called beautiful.
Pictures of elephants were reported in this land. It had lakes, marshes, mountains and plains for many different species of animal. Besides domestication of horse, ox, and sheep, they developed wheat, oats, rye, and barley.
Mild climate is one of the advantages enjoyed by Atlanteans along with good soil. That meant every quality of food could be grown: roots, herbage, flowers, fruits, and variety of wood were all cultivated or found growing. Can you believe they had coconuts and oranges? They probably developed the banana and pineapple also.
The architecture greatly influence later Egyptians and Greeks. Their buildings, however, weren't all white or sandstone. They were done with white, red, and black stones using these colors to give visual effects as decorations. What kind of people covered their walls with copper? Atlanteans. Atlantean architecture could have been called oriental (meaning "barbaric" and cyclopean with rocks that were squared and fitted together skillfully. They were also called polygonal blocks.
The Temple of Poseidon was entirely covered with silver, the top-notches with gold. The interior was of ivory gold, silver, and orichalch even to the pillars and floor.
The main armory housing the military had an interior lined with orechalkos that glittered like gold. The temple of Poseidon sat on a three-headed mountain, and was covered in gold plates. Many ivory and gold statues adorned the interior of Poseidon's temple. In its center was a gigantic statue of Poseidon driving six winged horses. The head of Poseidon almost touched the dome of that temple.
The Atlanteans most probably domesticated the horse for horses were a favorite sacrifice to Poseidon. They killed and cast them into sea until their head priests decided it was not good for the horse population and discouraged the practice.
One thing Atlanteans were known for was their vacation retreats. They loved the cool weather found up in Hyperborean land. This was where they built their summerhouses during "the season".
Poseidonias city contained the Singing Flame. Ah, that infamous flame that consumed pilgrims from many worlds. Lovely way to thin out the population. It was great for the euthanasia advocates. Never had to worry about Alzheimer's disease. Feed the flame and show the world your courage. As punishment the priests were empowered to infect the person with a "mind parasite". Oh shades of Captain Kirk and Spock. With this the person would have two voices from his/her brain giving them directions instead of one.
Their capital city, Poseidonais, had a military hill housing their forces. It was encircled by zones of land and water, a canal to the sea and bridges over these zones fortified by towers.
For purposes of organization the country was divided into Quads (like Cantons or Provinces) Each was about 12 miles apart. As far as protecting the capital, there were three walls encircling the city. They even had great cisterns for their supply of drinking water and baths. Their harbor was guarded by a sea wall as well.
Advanced races of men were given wisdom according to their capabilities and the relationship was marked by a pyramidal temple in the image of the supreme pyramid where the College had its seat in Atlantis and knowledge was preserved. They also had a "sacred hill" in the shape of a pyramid.
They were dominated by the passions of the senses. Atlantis used more ritual whereas Kuiland (Lemuria) sought God by looking above, since Lemurian used a space they labeled their Temple of Transparent Walls!.
Atlantean children who didn't work the land were more interested in science than in the liberal arts. Their children studied a curriculum of geology, astronomy, science, calculus, and agronomy. They ate meat, vegetables, fruits and nuts. They wore loose fitting robes and sandals.
Atlantean information storage was the skins and guts of animals made into parchment. Even as we store large blueprints and maps today, they stored their documents in cylinders. They were actually placed for safety and future discoveries in pyramid shaped structures 1/3rd of the way down from the apex where no bacteria could live to destroy the documents. They also possessed psychic abilities. Esp was common among them. They knew the future from being prophets themselves and knew they were doomed.
Thus their documents were collected and put in the Tomb of Records knowing they might be lost for thousands of years but also knowing when all would be revealed. The geographic location of these storage places were in Yucatan, Egypt (Sphinx), and Poseidonais. What did they deem important enough for storage? Their records were about their understanding of earth formation, creation of life forms, coming of man, and of government of (Kuiland) Lemuria and Atlantis.
According to Madam Blavatsky and others: 1st destruction -- 50,000 BC continent only existed and was shaken. Free souls without material form were present who could inhabit trees, plants, or animals. By endlessly projecting into material forms, the souls were caught up in material form and could no longer escape.
Division of sexes occurred at this time.... developing from beings actually androgynous. Souls became captured within their physical forms. Pleasing self and pleasuring self to the extreme resulted in the solid body becoming permanent and open to wear and tear. There was general misuse of one's creative powers. This playing with DNA interrupted evolutionary patterns of earth.
2nd destruction -- 28,000 BC (broke into 5 islands)
3rd and final destruction-- 10,000 BC (The Tibetan Book of Dzyan says 9564 BC) sunk. Edgar Cayce also claimed Atlantis destroyed three times only by nuclear holocausts at 50,000 BC, 28,000 BC and 10,000.
They had three big migrations of people:
*25,000 years ago---Cro-magnon *16,000 years ago-- Aurignac *10,000 years ago- Azil-Tardenos
Atlanteans were thought people with greatly evolved mental and intuitive powers and abilities. They were weakened by the Sons of Belial, those who served the dark forces and had low standards of morality. The Law of One people had compassion for the Sons of Belial. During the lst stage (50,000 BC when the first destruction occurred) they had heavier than air machines. It was with these that they harnessed electrical forces of nature, natural gases, and even the earth's interior heat.
They knew theories of nuclear power that eventually split their islands and even had a protest group who knew dangers and protested atomic and nuclear testing.
Atlanteans invented and manufactured bronze and iron, invented Phoenician alphabet, Mayan glyphs as well as cultivating the rose, tuberose and the lilac. They domesticated wheat, oats, rye, barley, and maize so that even today there are no wild varieties.
As you can tell, the Atlanteans WERE advanced in their science and arts. Conveniences and luxuries were thought to be necessities. They had a cultural complex that included:
-practice of mummification - "wicca" witchcraft -presence of pyramid -head flattening (certain members of the upper class for supposed "royalty" reasons practiced this with their infants the same as the Incas and Mayas of Central and South America.) -the couvade (practice of fathers going through rituals of childbirth as if he's having or had the baby) -used of three-pointed stones -tradition of cataclysm -caste system of embalmers as outcasts -use of melted mutton, grease, grass seeds, stones, the bark of pine trees. -placing body in sun for drying purposes -using stone knife for first cut into body -had horse sacrifice and sometimes human
