George J. Beimers, B.S. and two Master�s Degrees, was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He did his undergraduate work at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo. His graduate work was interrupted during the Korean War when he was drafted and served in the army. Afterwards he completed his graduate work at Columbia University and University of Arizona. George was awarded National Science Foundation grants to further his studies of International Relations with John Hopkins University. This included studying abroad at Bologna University in Bologna, Italy. It was with Claremont College, Pomona, California that he furthered his research in the area of psychology and sociology.
In the summers of 1968 and �69 he was part of a National Science Foundation team from the University of Washington. They toured 10,000 miles from one end to the other of the U.S.S.R. examining economic and agricultural conditions along with their communist controlled school systems. Even shadowed every day by the KGB, George was able to take hundreds of pictures in the major cities of the Soviet Union that he made into an hour slide-show presentation given to the Tucson School district that was used by social studies teachers to use with their classes for years. He did abide by the rules and took no shots of bridges, railways, certain churches, or pictures from the air.
After twenty-five years of lecturing and researching in various areas of political science, psychology and sociology, George turned to writing. Two books recently completed were A Gift from the Gods along with Additional Gifts from the Gods. Before that he helped publish a collection of Chinese children's stories called Out Of the Mouth of a Chinese Dragon published in 1996. His most recent published book is called Russia�s Little America. It contains many true experiences and situations he found while in Russia.
Research for these books has taken George to Europe several times, as well as Russia, Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, and Japan. Besides writing prose, George is also an award-winning poet. He is a charter member of the International Society of Poets and won awards for his poetry in 1987-88 and 1991. His poem, "The Creator of My Own Being" won in the World of Poetry contest in 1990. As early as 1993 George was listed in Marquis�s book Who�s Who In America and in 2000 he made it into Who�s Who In The World. He is also presently included in Strathmore�s Who�s Who for 2003-2004.
