(DALLAS, TEXAS)--A spokesperson announced today that Darkwing Illusions, has been acquired by IMFX Entertainment Company. �Darkwing has negotiatied one of the most lucrative deals in the magic industry,� said an industry analyst. Darkwing Illusions will retain their name and board of directors. In general, there will be no change in operation. Darkwing Illusions will operate as a subsidiary of IMFX Entertainment Company.
The acquistion includes new sponsorships and a substantial investment into Darkwing�s production company by IMFX Entertainment, but contractually required the world
premiere of the 1999 world tour and schedule of Phantazmic! to be altered. The new tour schedule is posted on the Darkwing Illusions web site and includes dates through
the end of 1999. Further tour dates will be posted as available.
The world premiere of Darkwing�s Phantazmic! is re-scheduled for Memorial Day, Monday, May 31, 1999 in the Universal Amphitheatre, Hollywood at 8:15pm. Tickets will
be available on Friday, February 5, 1999 at the Universal Studios box office, all Ticketmaster outlets and Ticketmaster On-line for this event.
�Since this acquisition has brought more money and sponsorships into the production, we will be passing some savings along to our fans by reducing the cost of tickets. We are planning on tickets now ranging from $24.00 to $59.00. Ticket prices prior to the acquisition were $40.00 to $76.00, thus shaving about $17.00 off on each ticket pricing category,� said Darkwing.
Preliminary market research had shown that even at the higher prices, sell-outs were likely in over 92% of the markets. With the new lower pricing, SRO is not only likely, but probable making Darkwing�s Phantazmic! one of the most sought-after theatrical tickets of 1999. To accomodate the higher demand the lower ticket pricing will
command, Darkwing will be deleting the intermission in order to be able to perform two shows nightly. �We will perform as many shows as humanly possible in each of our cities in order for everyone to see Phantazmic!. I can�t stress enough that Phantazmic! will only be performed during the 1999 world tour. We won�t be back around with
Phantazmic!. Our next tour will be new material and will blow the roof off and to the moon,� said Darkwing.
Darkwing Illusions has planned the following press activities for the world premiere of Phantazmic!:
WORLD PREMIERE PRESS SECTION SEATING
Darkwing Illusions has a limited number of press seats available for purchase in our �press section�. The �press section� is located in the center section of the theatre and offers prime seating for our distinguished members of the press. Requests for purchase of our �press section� seating must be made in advance at the press section e-mail address at [email protected].
PRESS INTERVIEWS
Darkwing Illusions respectfully requests that press interviews be scheduled in advance with the interview request e-mail address at [email protected]. Darkwing will only be available for scheduled interviews and with any members of the press with valid credentials. Two interview segments are scheduled. Registration can be made for either or
both scheduled events.
(A) The Darkwing Illusions Press Room for pre-show interviews will be located in the �Green Room� in the Universal Amphitheatre. Pre-show interviews will begin
at 6:15pm and conclude promptly at 7:45pm. Time allotment per interviewer will be based on actual number of interviews scheduled. We will schedule as many interviews as possible.
(B) The Darkwing Illusions Press Room for post-show reception interviews will be located in the �Darkwing Interview Booth� in the bar at Wizards. Post-show
reception interviews will begin at 11:00pm and conclude promptly at 12:00am. Time allotment per interviewer will be based on actual number of interviews scheduled.
PREMIERE PARTY RECEPTION
Following the world premiere members of the press and invited stars of Hollywood and guests are invited to the premiere party reception at Wizards in Universal City Walk. This event is strictly by invitation only with limited space and requires advance registration. Members of the press who want to register for this event should contact the registration e-mail address at [email protected].
PRESS REGISTRATION
Due to the high security at Universal Studios and the production, check-in is required on the day of the event to receive valid credentials for all press events. These additional security clearances will be available for pick-up at the Darkwing Illusions Press Registration Table. The press registration table, located in the lobby of the Universal Amphitheatre, will be open from 11:30am to 5:30pm
only. Press registration for all press-related events must be made no later than 5:00pm, CST, Friday, April 16, 1999. Requests after that date will not be accepted.
The multi-million dollar deal will be realized more with Darkwing�s next tour as it will allow for full production considerations. Darkwing�s next tour, currently under development, is a heavily guarded secret, but will be the ultimate theatrical experience and will launch Darkwing Illusions as the premiere magic and illusion production of the millennium.
Darkwing�s first television special, �Let The Magic Begin� is already in production and will conclude with �live� filming of four Dallas/Ft. Worth preview shows on May 25 and May 26, 1999. Tickets for these four shows can be purchased through Ticketmaster outlets and Ticketmaster On-line beginning Friday, February 5, 1999 at 10:00am. A limited number of press seats are available and can be requested at the e-mail address [email protected]. No official airdate or network has been set for Darkwing�s �Let The Magic Begin� but is rumored to be on Saturday, October 30; just in
time for Halloween.
