FALL ROADRUNNER EVENTS ENJOYED BY MANY MEMBERS
By Barbara Washington

Participation for fourth-quarter Miata Club activities was outstanding!  We all enjoyed meeting new friends and renewing acquaintances at the well-attended breakfast socials.  Three different sites were chosen:  Abuelita's, 66 Diner, and Hello Deli (Jefferson).  I overheard a comment from another patron:  "Look at all the cute, little matching cars, Honey!"

No Roadrunners joined Charles and me at the Sandia Crest to watch the (not so) mass ascension of the hot air balloons.  It was very chilly at 6:15 a.m., but we certainly got a bird's eye view of events on the valley floor.  We easily traced traffic patterns, observed preliminary firings and early lift offs, and watched in awe as the main body of balloonists took off in orderly fashion from the primary field.  On NM 14, Lynne Rathjen joined us for a quick drive up to Santa Fe (we missed the earlier turn off) and back to Bernalillo via I25, Route 66 and El Camino Real through Algodones and Angostura.

As mentioned in President Bush's column, several club members joined in the October day drive to Carrizozo.  It was a fine day for a trip via US 380 to the Outpost Bar for green-chili cheeseburgers, more fries than any one person could eat, and beer followed by a visit to the Sierra Blanca brewery for a tour, samples and purchases.  Good Drive, Good Food, Good Beverages! (Perhaps next time we can fit in a stop at the rock shop for Andi.)

The DuFours hosted the Holiday party at their home, conveniently located near Wyoming and Constitution.  We arrived late, but found plenty of good food to fill our plates.  Much visiting and story telling followed the delicious meal.
