No need for an install file just read this and run the program.

Also thanks to Darke_Vampyre for sending me this file :-)

Mp3_cbit.exe was written to REMOVE the copywrite bit from mp3's if it
is turned on. If it's off then no action will be taken.

Some programs that share mp3's will not share mp3's with the copywrite
bit turned on.

In order to maximize the potential of this program you can put it in
your system's path - for example c:\windows

Then you can run the cbit.bat file that will pickup every file name
in a directory and execute Mp3_cbit to process it. It's a good idea
to also put the cbit.bat file in your system's path.

To make it even more convenient, there is a program called "Sweep.com"
in this archive that you can also put in in your system's path.

Then... if you have subdriectories with different atrist and another
level of subdirectories with their albums where the mp3's are stored,
you can process the entire directory tree by running the folowing command
from dos in the top directory:

sweep cbit

It will process 10,000 mp3's (about 4 gigs) in about 2 mins 30 seconds.

I am not the author of this program by far... I only wish I had the skills to write stuff like this.
Read Mp3_cbit.txt for info on running the Copyright Bit Remover.

I am merely adding this file to clear up some problems I expirienced while using this program. Well really there was only one problem, which was that on some MP3's it would not turn the copyright bit off. After some snooping around and Hex editing MP3's and lots of other not fun, time consuming, stuff I found the problem. An ID3 tagging program I had used a while back had added some extra info to the top of the MP3 file, so when mp3_cbit when and looked for the copyright bit it probably found some crap that this other program put in and got confused. The best solution to this problem is to get a program called "Oddera MP3 Tagger 2000" whcih also has an error check feature. When the error check is run this extra info will come up as "Unknow Data," just have it remove the data and re-run mp3_cbit and it should work. You can find this program at: http://www.come.to/Oddera.

Hope it all works out for you, if you have any questions contact me in any way you can.
