Two piece units consist of a converter which is the unit that actually changes the channels. Any 'features' that you want (volume control, last chanel recall, sleep timer, etc) are found in the converter. The channel display is on the converter. The number of channels that you receive depends on the channel capacity of your converter.
The other piece is the descrambler. This is the part that does the actual signal decoding. The only thing you need to know about the descrambler is what 'type' of descrambling you need. See below for some examples.
An advantage of a two piece unit is that you may switch the descrambler and keep the converter if you find that you suddenly need new equipment.

TPUC-100 The 'SEMI-UNIVERSAL' No descrambler is truly 'universal' (except our UDC-100 plans which work on everything except Zenith P-series) but this descrambler comes close. It works on all non-baseband Sctific Atla systems as well as all non-baseband Jrrld and Gnerl Instrmt systems! If your box model looks like DPV or 8500 this will most likely work. This is an add-on unit that must be used with a cable converter (NOT the one issued by the cable company, but a 'plain' converter.) $195.00
