Arrow keys move the cursor about.

M - Show complete map, arrow keys move...
ESC - Quit the graphical editor

The circle in the map area is the cursor.
The "Def:BLOCKED" or "Def:NOT BL" indicates if the default is square blocked.
When the default is sqare blocked, any background set with Return, will be
blocked. (See BLOCKED BLOCK later on)
The "CXY:" is followed by the current cursor coordinates.

BLOCKED BLOCK
The black or white little squares indicates if the BLOCK BIT on that spot
has been set. If it is set, the square is white. If not, it's black. When it
is set(white), the player and monsters won't EVER be able to walk through
that square. Put this on, by pressing B, when creating solid walls. Or set
the default to BLOCKED by pressing D, and any wall placed with RETURN will
have the BLOCKED bit set. (Phew, did U get that?!)

The pictures in the upper-right corner are background patterns(B:), and
special objects(O:).
To the left is the current wall/floor pattern. This is just placed on screen
below any objects/monsters/etc. in the game.
To the right is the current object/monster/etc. When this is placed, the
object can usually be interacted by, with the player. The monsters you place
will come alive in the game, the doors will need keys, keys can be collected
etc.
NB:- To clear a square completely, press 'C'
WARNING:- When you roll through objects, sometimes you'll only see some silly
box, or numbers. These sprites are reserved, and should not be used, as some
of them might interact as monsters(!)

To run your lates creation,
--------------------------
-+* MAGIC MAZE v1.12 and later
Start Magic Maze, select TRAIN LEVEL and select the extension of your
    newly created map.

ADD-ON LEVELS NOTE:
There is a limit to how many levels Magic Maze can let you choose from,
thus you might not be able to select your latest level if there is already
a lot(>50?) of levels(MM_MAP.??? files) in you MM directory. Delete or move
some map files out of the MM directory, and you should be fine.

!! TIPS !!
REDUCING SPACE CONSUMPTION-
Only placing objects and walls in the higher part of the map, will cause
the file size to be reduced, as the empty info in the last part of the
file won't have to be saved to disk. So if you rather stretch your levels
horizontally, space is preserved. (In Effect, stretch them vertically and
you're wasting a lot of space...)
..Then again SLACK-SPACE probably eats up the space gains....
MAKE WIDE LEVELS-
By making the paths wide (at least two blocks), the Artifical Intelligence
will be more noticable, as well as it 'feels' better, when moving.

  DISCLAIMER / ETC...
This version of the Map Editor for Magic Maze is Freeware, only to be
distributed along with MAGIC MAZE, with all its files.
You are using this software at your own risk. It isn't finished, so there
are bound to be some bugs in it. Don't blame me, you've been warned!
It is illegal for everyone(except me!) to commercially exploit this product.
No charge should be made for this product.

  DISTRIBUTING LEVELS
You are free to distribute and spread your own levels, as long as you don't
do it commercially. That is, make money out of it. You are allowed to
distribute them as Freeware or PD.
BUT! please do not distribute copies of MAGIC MAZE with modified versions
of the MM_MAP.0?? files, as I'd like people to play the original game. You're
free to spread your own levels along, but please don't modify my work, OK?
To help you from "ACCIDENTALLY" doing so, saving a map as MM_MAP.0?? as been
prohibited in the map editor.
If you really like Magic Maze and have created some fabulous levels, then
I'd sure like to see them. If you send me your own creations, I might include
them on a new release of Magic Maze.

-+* TROUBLESHOOTING ([Pow] AAARRggghh...) *+-

PROBLEM: Some KEYS don't always respond.
SOLUTION:
*- The state of the NumLock keys will affect the ARROW keys & PgUp/PgDn,
among others. Try pressing NUMLOCK while in the editor to remedy the problem.
( I thought I fixed that??? )

PROBLEM: Program aborts/crashes/hangs in Windows 98.
SOLUTION: ... there is none, until I correct it, which isn't all too likely to happen anytime soon. If you really, REALLY want to make levels for Magic Maze you could:
 * bug me on e-mail
 * make your own editor...
 * fix the bugs in the source ( ;-)
 * install another OS (DOS sounds reasonable)

  THE AUTHOR makes FUNNY NOISES
This Map Editor, designed for Magic Maze, is:
 - Not finished.
 - Probably filled with bugs.
 - Not user-friendly.

But I'm giving it to you anyway, since:
 - It does work... sort of.
 - I used EARLIER, less user-friendly versions of this program to design the
Magic Maze levels, as did my 11-year-old brother Daniel... so maybe it
    ain't all too complicated?!?

Some people just love creating levels for games, some people feel they
can do better when they see other peoples work, and some people just
love messing about with other people's work. So here you go, you
lucky, lucky people.

OK, then, bye-bye now, take care...
 BUT HAVE FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUN!

MenThal signing off..........
