CAPTAIN E. J. SMITH

Captain E. J. Smith had been the captain of many ships, including the Olympic, Titanic's sister ship, but the Titanic captaining job was going to be the last of his career, and it certainly was.
There were many legends about Captain Smith's last night. One of the most common legends is that he said, "All men for themselves!", and he calmly walked onto the bridge and went down with the ship. Another one states that he when went down with the ship, he came to a lifeboat and rested for a second. The people in the lifeboat offered to help him, but he just pushed off the lifeboat swam to his watery death. But if that was true, it would be impossible to believe the legend of him swimming to the lifeboat with a baby in his arms. Last, but not least, is the one about him raising a revolver to his head and firing it.
