John Compton II: b. ca.1760, d. 3 March 1828 in Tazewell Co., VA, m. before 1780 to Eleanor [Elinor] McGuire, d. after Mar 1834. (Cf., Blalock says later moved to Missouri, but DAR records confirmed his Revolutionary War service as a private, as well as the birth/death/marriage indicated above. Blalock (see also Comptonology, V. 2, No. 9, pp. 44, 46) lists children of John and Margaret as:

Jeremiah was involved in the siege of Yorktown and the surrender of Cornwallis. Blalock has considerably more detail on Jeremiah and Elizabeth. According to Blalock, Margaret Raemer remarried after John's death to William Aston, and was sued by son Joseph subsequently for a division of the Compton estate. There was also a sale of Botetourt Co. land from Joseph to William and Margaret Acton.

He was party to this legal action: Road repair issue in Jun 1810 in Tazewell Co, VA. He signed a will on 12 Mar 1828 in Tazewell Co, VA. He died before Jul 1828 in Tazewell Co, VA. He was married to Eleanor MCGUIRE before 1780.

There is a will for John Sr probated in 1828 with wife Eleanor and children Elihu, Joseph, Wm, Hiram, Hickman, Nancy Cartmill, Rebecca Shannon, and Sally.
