Dare and Endure:
World War II

HONOR ROLL

Recipe for a GI
Take one American, slightly green.
Stir from bed at an early hour.
Dress in olive drab.
Mix with other eggs like him.
Then toughen with maneuvers and grate on sergeant's nerves.
Add liberal portion of baked beans and spam.
Season with rain, snow, wind, and sun.
Sweeten from time to time with chocolate bars and kisses.
Pass over 110 degrees summer, let cool to below zero winter.
Harden in heat of battle.
Serves 135,000,000 people.
Armored News Aug 20, 1945

This is an ambitious project. I want to honor the Allied people who fought, bled, and died in World War II. Their memory may fade with the passing years, but our memories will keep their flame burning bright.

Please note: I am no longer accepting entries for the Honor Roll.  Please consider joining the Dare and Endure Community where you can use the self-serve Honor Roll.

I have intentionally left out many of the well-known "stars" of the war. It was the regular Joes that lived in the ditches (if they were lucky!) and got the job done. This page is dedicated to them.
