May 15
The members of the team met at the Philippine Village Hotel at around 6:00 to 7:00 am and then proceeded to the Airport terminal 2 at exactly 7:30 am. The flight was supposed to be at around 10:00 am, but due to heavy rains it was delayed until 1:45 pm. They arrived at the Chagi Airport via Flight # PR503 at 5 pm. All Singaporean host families were at the airport to pick up their children. They were led by Rtns. Zahidi A. Tahman and Jimmy Ooi. They had a welcome dinner at the DAB Vince Restaurant together with the hosts and RC Singapore President Philip Leong.
May 16
The delegates went to Malaysia by land. They arrived at Muar, Malaysia at 2 pm. The Malaysian host families met them at the bus station before going to a Chinese Restaurant for lunch. After eating they went to the largest furniture factory which is owned by a Singaporean Rotarian. At night, they had a fellowship dinner with the Singaporean Rotarians and Interactors.
May 17
They went to Japatan Kebar (Community-based rehabilitation center) special school for children. It was headed by incoming President A. Martin who was the head of social welfare. They went to Sultan Abubakar School for Girls after which they proceeded to Malacca for a tour. Malacca is the most historical city.
May 18
They went back to Singapore at 1 pm. The host families picked up the children in the bus station. They rest of the afternoon was free; they had rest and went shopping.
May 19
They went to Jurong Bird Park, a park which has 8,000 different kinds of birds and Tai Pe which is a home for the aged.
May 20
They all went to Vicotria Junior College, where they met interactors and had a chance to interact with them. After lunch a Rotarian picked them up for a city tour. They went to Sentosa for a cable car ride. They visited a Buddhist Temple and then they dropped by China Town for a little shopping. After the city tour, they went to Dr. Oliver Henedigues' house for the farewell dinner party.
May 21
This is the lst day -- farewell time to the foster parents. It was indeed difficult to say goodbye, but they had no choice. They all went back to the Philippines via PR503.
The delegates really had a rare and memorable experience: an experience they will cherish for the rest of their lives.
