Subject directories with an evaluation system
In order to trace information on the Web more efficiently, subject directories began to emerge, in the mid-1990s, that added an evaluation to the sites and/or provided them with annotations. Examples of such subject directories, which usually cover a wide area, are:
This so-called eBlast describes, evaluates (by means of a star system), and classifies more than 130,000 high-quality websites. The site's subject directory of Web sites is under the name of "the Web's Besr Sites". Clear navigation and good help screens complete this useful site.
This is both a search robot and a subject directory, and contains 15 categories. In the directory, websites are described and evaluated. Some sites are given a 'green light' qualification, which means that they are also suitable for children.
