Recollections of The Past

Notes for Rebecca "Martillia" BALCH

Her and her father located her late husband's Peter Colony Certificates for six hundred acers, five miles northwest of the Balch home, out on to Weatherford Rd. She paid to have a cabin built in 1852, and wait for her husband, Parker's return
from California.
Her death was the first in Alvarado, Johnson Co., TX.
In 1854 her father gave to the neighborhood four acres of land, covering where she was buried for a graveyard.
Johnson county was organized in 1855, with about 150 settlers in her limits.
