Recollections of The Past
Notes for Losada Jane MOYER
In 1861, she was living in the Betty neighborhood in West Texas with her mom, stepdad, and family. During the same time, but after Captain Ross had bought Joseph McClure's first corn crop in Alvarado, TX. while on his way to fight the
Indians. Then, Losada at 12 years old and her sister, Margaret at 15 years old saw Captain Ross in their neighborhood with Cynthia Parker and her boy, and they saw Mrs. Sherman, who was killed and scalped by the Indians there just before.
They were in very close and squally times forted up there against the Indians (McClure, Joseph "First Days of Alvarado" May 1, 1917).
