| Chapter XX - Karen's Recovery | ||||||||||
| Karen was on a mountain, it was the mountain where she was born. It was called "The Mountain of the Dead," some of her friends had come there, they had never been names. You were only given a name among her people, if one day you would be born to someone important. People had always been upset with her because she affiliated herself with people of lesser caliber. She needed someone to talk to, furthermore, who you considered your friends were the only ones who could help you recover during the time of pain Karen was going through. Which the elders had forced upon her. She had to endure this pain because she was summoned back here, to the land of her people, for what purpose she did not know. While her people were in this alternate dimension, they always appeared to be shadows, with two red eyes. This was how they looked when they were born. She looked to her friends, "How has it been since I've been away?" all of her friends turned to her. One of them said, "The same," Another said, "Things change," The next said, "Then they change back," Karen said, "Of course, why have I been summoned? One of them said, "The child is not the same," Her next friend said, "She will appear as us," The final friend said, "Only as the rest of you," The first friend again spoke, "You must go to her and explain who you are," Her next friend, "Who you really are," The final friend spoke again, "What your purpose is," Her second friend said, "Do you understand?" Karen said, "Yes, where is she?" The first friend said, "In the place nobody can see," The second friend says, "And nobody cares to," The third friend said, "But you can see, and she cares to," The first friend ordered, "Go, now," Karen said, "I will," and she walked off into the distance. Reappearing in a small cavern overlooking an ocean and a moon made of blood. A girl wearing a blue outfit with dark black hair was there. She was not a shadow like everyone else. Karen said, "Laya, it is your future mother," Laya said, "I know," Karen said, "You know that we are the shadow, we are dark while in our home, others must adhere to the light, but we are the death, otherwise the world will become overpopulated, while most dont even have the power to do so, you must refrain from using it, as I do" Laya said, "I dont care, I am Laya, you should refrain from doing it as well," Karen said, "The time is not right for this, soon it will be time to move on the order of things, but not now, our King will eventually be removed, replaced permenately by a Queen," Laya said, "Who?" Karen said, "Me," Laya said, "You are his wife?" Karen said, "No, but the others will accept it as such, and when I die, you will accept your place as Princess Laya," Karen said, "So it is not time to move, not yet," Laya said, "I will not turn myself into a shadow, not for anything," Karen said, "Laya, you are the great one among are people, you have more power then any of us," Laya replied, "Then I will tear the elders to shreds like paper, and create a new order," Karen ordered, "No, you will not," Laya sighed, "But, mother-to-be, if I am that powerful.." Karen said, "Society cannot be built upon power, you must follow the law Laya," Laya said, "I wont destroy anyone," Karen said, "Good girl," Laya said, "But I will only consider turning myself into a shadow, for the sake of keeping the order of society," Karen said, "Thats all I ask," Karen turned to leave. Laya said, "Goodbye, mother," with a real seriousness in her voice. Karen smiled and said, "Goodbye, Laya," and left, reappearing in the elder's chamber. Karen said, "Have I satisfied the elders?" The elders all spoke at once, "The elders are satisfied for the time being, if needed you will be summoned again, Ambassador Karen," Karen bowed and said, "I serve only our people," remembering that one day she would get rid of the King. Then she returned to the real world, seeing Kalm, Saras, Lasy, and Yal. Karen smiled and said, "Hello my friends," then she gasped. She had just heard a telepathic image and heard Laya's voice, it was from the future. The resistance was going to be invaded. Karen said, "We have to return to the Resistance HQ, at once," Kalm said, "But the Earth Shard," Karen replied, "This cannot wait!" |
