Welcome To Jungle John's Environmental Issues
The logging industry calls this natural resource recyclable, in that they replant new trees after clearing. HAS ANYONE ELSE NOTICED that the only trees that ever get replanted are the fast-growing, low-oxygen-producing, highly acidic, and unshady southern pines??? The hardwoods take sometimes hundreds of years to grow to maturity, but because they are not profitable for the logging industry, never seem to get replanted. In my opinion, this practice can be nearly as harmful to the environment as clearing without any reforestation. Without the oxygen and dark shady areas provided by our huge and mature hardwoods, the temperature and light-levels will naturally increase in these areas..... affecting the undergrowth and wildlife patterns as well. I would like to hear from others who have witnessed this practice, and are concerned as I am about the unending murder of our forests.
