Mount Kinabalu, Borneo, 19th October 1988
This was my first ever birding experience. It was our school biology A level field trip (not a bad place to do it, eh?). Mark Bezuijen and Paul were in my class and they were mad into wildlife of all forms. Anyway, I just tagged along one morning and they pointed out a few things like the Indigo Flycatcher. It was far too cool. It was sitting on a branch in the rainforest, it was indigo and it flew off it's perch and caught a fly. That was me hooked. I got a pair of binoculars and a guide to Hong Kong birds for my Christmas pressie and that was me sorted out.

Changmai, Thailand, 31st March to 8th April 1990
This was a hiking trip in the hills of northern Thailand. Unfortunatley, I didn't get much chance at birding it was all pretty strenuous! I saw a Hornbill of some sort flying away from me but I didn't realise what it was until about two years later when I saw a documantary on them.
