BETWEEN JOBS

Recently I was loaned a copy of Devil May Cry for the Playstation 2. Since I was only given a few short days to play it, I played it on easy and well, enjoyed it enough to beat it three more times afterwards on easy. Now, I own my own copy and will play it on the other levels of difficulty. Anyways, to the art. Well, the image above is Dante, the hero of the game. Without going into much detail, he is one bad-ass character.

I knew I wanted to draw something about Dante, but I didn't want something common, like a pose/action shot. So below is what I came up with. I titled it "Between Jobs" (since he is a mercenary). The weapons show are Alastor (the sword) and "Ebony and Ivory" his handguns. This was my favorite combination in the game.

SPECIAL THANKS GO TO:
JEFF: My inspiration for this picture. He is kendo master (a martial art, if you want to think of it that way). I have seen him prepare for practices and tournaments several times, but only seen him spar once. He also gets some credit for being my historical counselor (i.e. sword oil). He owns a dracula plush, which is included on the left side of the image. Kinda of fitting, don't you think?

CALVIN KLEIN: One thing that I learned from drawing this is drawing MEN. Most of my pictures depict women. Thanks to his ads I was able to get quality models. (As a side note, I also learned how to draw in this new comical style. I think i did pretty well on the first try.

US ARMY: During my 1-year stint in the military, I learned more in that year than I ever did in my life (okay, outside of the first year, where everything you learn is new). As for this image, I remember cleaning guns with WD-40. 1
