California's wildlife populations
range from plentiful to endangered. Placer and Nevada Counties, due to
high pecentage of National Forest, has a large area of habitat for wildlife
populations. The California State Animal, the Grizzly Bear, is extinct
in this state, but not in others. I have provided links to pages to almost
all of the species. Highlighted scientific name
links to species descriptions. Highlighted
common name
links to photographs.
Most links are to government pages and to universities, and a list is at
the end of the page. There are also other link to wildlife pages of interest.
The following is a guide to the species of this area. The links provided
are to other web pages and to return to this site you must use your back
