The AILDF seeks to achieves its aims by:

1. Raising the awareness of Indonesia's legal issues amongst the Australian community (through public events, speaking tours, background briefing to media and parliamentarians and periodic newsletters).

2. Developing strong links between the legal professions of Australia and Indonsia through facilitating exchanges of personnel between sectors of the legal profession, arranging training opportunities and encouraging academic rigour and knowledge exchange regarding the respective legal systems.

3. Promoting links between Australian and Indonesian non-government organisations concerned with law and human rights.

4. Keeping a watching brief on legal and rule of law issues.
