HABITAT Arid scrub/Desert FOUND Australia: Western, North & South Queensland. SIZE 16 cm (16.25 ins) DISTINCTIVE FEATURES It's body bristles with conical spines. It has spines above each eye and a spiny hump behind it's head. Even it's tail is covered with spines. EXTRA INFO. It is a slow moving creature. It foreges for it's food, mainly ants and termites on the ground. A female thorny devil lays 3-10 eggs, usually 8, in November or December. The newly hatched young are tiny, spiny replicas of their parents. |
